Our Story

Hi, I'm Justin. I work for drivers.

My name is Justin Gordon. I’m a registered OATH representative and TLC compliance consultant based in Long Island City, Queens — right in the middle of NYC’s TLC world.

I started HeyTaxiNYC because I kept seeing the same thing: drivers getting crushed by summonses they didn’t fully understand, missing hearings they didn’t know mattered, and losing their licenses over violations they could have fought — or avoided entirely.

I work with yellow cab drivers, FHV drivers, Uber and Lyft operators, owner-operators, and fleets. Many of my clients are newer immigrants navigating a complicated system in a second language. I explain everything clearly, step by step. No legal jargon. No runaround.

I’m not a lawyer. I’m an advocate. I know TLC rules, OATH procedures, and NYC Admin Code — and I use that knowledge to protect your license and your income.

How I work with drivers
“A summons is not the end of the road. Most drivers come to me panicked — they think one ticket means they’re losing their license or their car. Usually, we have more options than they think. But you have to act fast and you have to know the rules.”

Know The Stakes

The fine is not the real problem.

For TLC drivers, points are what put your license — and your livelihood — on the line. Here’s what you need to know before you plead guilty to anything.
A wrong-turn ticket may seem minor, but if you are convicted and DMV points are assessed, those points count toward your TLC record. Too many points can result in suspension or even revocation of your TLC license — which means you cannot legally drive a yellow cab, green cab, Uber, Lyft, or black car.
⚠️ Warning Zone
6–9
Total DMV/TLC points within 15 months
TLC can suspend your TLC driver license for up to 30 days.
30 days off the road = thousands of dollars in lost income.

🚨 Revocation Zone
10+
Total DMV/TLC points within 15 months
TLC can revoke your TLC driver license entirely.
You cannot drive for Uber, Lyft, yellow cab, or any TLC-regulated service.

What this means in plain English

  • You can pay a fine today, but if that conviction adds points and pushes you over the TLC threshold, you could lose your ability to work.
  • DMV points and TLC points both count toward your total. A moving violation on your personal license can still affect your TLC license.
  • The 15-month window resets based on violation dates — not conviction dates. Timing matters.
  • That’s why we review every ticket before deciding whether to plead guilty or fight it.

Before we do anything, I need to know:

  • 1How many points are already on your DMV abstract?
  • 2When did those violations occur? (The 15-month window is critical.)
  • 3Do you have any other pending tickets — open or unresolved?
  • 4Can you send me a photo of the ticket right now?
Send me the ticket. I’ll tell you the exact point value, TLC risk, and your best next move — fast.
